Privacy policy
What personal information Houston Picks handles, why, who it is shared with and how to exercise your rights.
In short
Houston Picks (houstonpicks.com) is a guide to Houston businesses. We handle very little personal information: what the site needs to run, what you send us when you write, and the accounts of businesses that claim their listing. We do not sell or share personal information for advertising.
What we collect
Technical logs: when you visit, your browser sends data such as your IP address, browser type and the page requested; we use it for security and to fix errors. Messages: if you write to us, your name, email and what you tell us. Business accounts: the email you sign in with, your listing details and, if you buy a plan, billing details.
How we use it
To keep the site secure and working, answer questions, manage business listings and plans, and meet our tax obligations.
Cookies
Houston Picks shows no ads and uses no advertising or tracking cookies. Visit statistics are measured without cookies. The «For businesses» area uses one technical cookie to keep you signed in.
Who we share it with
Only the providers we need: Cloudflare (hosting, security, cookie-free statistics and email), Stripe (plan payments) and OpenFreeMap (map tiles, which your browser downloads directly from their servers). Each uses the data only for its own function.
How long we keep it
Technical logs, only as long as security requires. Emails, for the conversation and a reasonable time after. Business accounts, while active, and billing records as long as the law requires.
Your choices
You can ask to see, correct or delete your personal information at info@houstonpicks.com. We answer every request.
Changes
We may update this policy when the site or the law changes; the current version is always the one published here.
